For a long time, Arabic was the undisputed first language of Islamic extremism. The majority of the groups speak Arabic and Arab countries are still the ones where recruitment is the most important. Yet in the past decade, islamic extremism has become increasingly globalized. Whereas their targets for recruitment had almost always been Arabs, the development of a multilingual web is opening the doors of islamic extremism to a non-Arab culture. Indeed, the use of English, of translations, and social media are more and more common and are contributing for the Jihad to reach a larger number of people around the world.
